Butch McMillan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 4, 2026, at the age of 77 in Elizabethtown. Born on March 6, 1949, in Jackson County, Florida, Butch was the cherished son of the late Junie Russell McMillan and Josie McKinney McMillan.
Throughout his life, Butch was known for his unwavering devotion to family, his kind heart, and his quiet strength. He spent his years surrounded by those he loved, always prioritizing the happiness and well-being of his family. His warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Stewart McMillan, who was his steadfast partner and cherished companion. Together they built a family grounded in love, laughter, and togetherness. Butch leaves behind his daughters, Tracy Hodge and her husband Robert, and Melissa Britt and her husband Foster, as well as his son, Brad McMillan.
His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Morgan Waldrop (John), Weston Hodge, and Bryson Britt, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He treasured every moment spent with his family and took great delight in watching their lives unfold.
In addition to his immediate family, Butch is survived by his mother-in-law, Sarah Stewart; sisters-in-law: Debra Dickens, Anita Mercer (Terry), and Dorothy McMillan; brother-in-law: Reuben Stewart (Tiffany). His caring spirit was also shared with his beloved nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Butch was preceded in death by his siblings: Russell McMillan, Adell Mercer, Geraldine Griffith, Arthur McMillan, Deana Tharp, and John Wayne McMillan.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at White Oak Family Worship Center, located at 1932 Burney Rd, White Oak, NC 28399. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location, offering a moment to reflect on Butch’s remarkable journey and the love he shared. Pastors Mackie Walters and Harrell Brock will officiate the service. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
Though he will be deeply missed, Butch's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be treasured by those whose lives were enriched by his presence and the example he set through a life well lived.
