Christopher Lynn Williams, a devoted family man and respected professional in forestry services, passed away on April 7, 2026, at Cape Fear Valley-Bladen County Hospital. He was 64 years old.

Born on August 8, 1961, in Robeson County, Chris was the beloved son of the late Donald Wayne Williams, Sr. and Shelby-Jean Nobles Williams. His early life in Fair Bluff laid the foundation for a deep connection to the natural world, a passion that would define much of his career and personal interests.

Chris dedicated a significant portion of his life to the North Carolina Forestry Service, where his expertise was widely recognized. He specialized in controlled burns in Edgecombe County and around the Bladen Lakes, vital work that contributed to the health and sustainability of local forests. An accomplished GIS mapping expert, he combined his skills with an impressive ability in orienteering, making him an invaluable asset in managing and preserving the region’s natural resources. Alongside his professional duties, Chris was known for being good with computers and enjoyed fishing, activities through which he found joy and tranquility.

Those who knew Chris remember him as a humble, kind, and dependable man. His honesty and steadfast nature earned him the trust and respect of friends and colleagues alike. This led to his tenure with the Board of Elections and his reputation of humility, honesty and honor were never in question. Above all, his family brought him immeasurable joy, and he cherished his time with them dearly.

Chris is survived by his loving wife, Denane Williams, and their son, Christopher David Williams. He is also remembered fondly by his great-aunt, Rosa Watkins, as well as several cousins and an extended family who will continue to honor his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Wayne Williams, Jr.

His legacy endures in the family he loved and the community he served so faithfully.
