Lonnie Wright

Lonnie Wright, 90, of Bladenboro, passed away on October 24, 2026, at Bladen East Health and Rehab in Elizabethtown. He was born on June 4, 1936, in Sampson County to the late Lawrence Brady Wright and Mary Jane Norris Wright.

Lonnie will be remembered as a man who loved his family and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved music, and he especially enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He was also a painter and enjoyed spending time going to flea markets, visiting pawn shops, and attending family gatherings. These interests reflected a life shaped by creativity, fellowship, and the enjoyment of time shared with others.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Wright of the home; his sons: Terry Wright of Bladenboro and Kirby Wright of Bladenboro; his sister, Jeanette Wright Vaughn of Bladenboro and several grandchildren. He also leaves behind the memory of a family life that was deeply important to him and those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Wayne Wright, Bobby Wright, Lonnie Wright Jr., Marshall Wright, Dean Wright, and Chris Wright; his daughters: Lisa Wright, Jan Wright; and siblings: Eva Edwards, Ina Murray, Ann Galent, Mary Anne Davis and Dennis Wright. Their memories remained part of the story of his life and the family he cherished so deeply.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at Bladenboro Chapel of Bladen-Gaskins, 800 N. Main Street, Bladenboro, NC 28320. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the chapel. Burial will take place at 11:45 am at Memory Lane Cemetery, Butler Mill Road, Bladenboro, NC 28320.

Lonnie will be remembered with love for his devotion to family, his music, and the warmth he brought to family gatherings and everyday moments. His memory will remain treasured by those who knew and loved him.
