Marcus "Randy" Randolph Barnhill

Marcus “Randy” Randolph Barnhill, 71, of Elizabethtown, passed away on September 24, 2026, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, North Carolina. He was born on July 22, 1955, in Pender County to the late Homer Curtis Barnhill and Vivian Brown Barnhill Nunnery.

Randy will be remembered as a kind-hearted man whose warmth and humor made a lasting impression on the people around him. He never met a stranger, and he had a special gift for making people laugh. A hard worker with a generous spirit, he was someone who always had a good time and brought that sense of joy with him wherever he went.

He found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors, and he also loved gardening. He took pleasure in using his metal detector, a pastime that suited his curiosity and appreciation for time spent outside. Above all, he loved his family deeply. He was a great father who dearly loved his daughter, and he treasured his grandchildren. Time with those he loved most meant everything to him. He was also known for enjoying Melton’s chicken, one of the familiar favorites that brought him happiness.

Randy also gave of himself in service to others. He was a proud member of the Elizabethtown Rescue and was one of the first EMT-I, a role that reflected both his dedication and his willingness to help those in need. That commitment to his community stands as an important part of his life and legacy.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Barnhill (Patrick Neal) of Bunnlevel; sisters: Sharon Guyton of Elizabethtown, Rose Vernon of Currie, and Valerie Morris (Dean) of Bladenboro; and his grandchildren: Ian (Ruby) Thayer, Charlotte Thayer, Samantha Neal, Jack Neal, Breanna Neal, and many nieces and nephews.  He loved his family and grandchildren dearly, and his memory will continue to live on in their hearts and in the many stories, smiles, and moments they shared with him.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his stepfather, Henry Raymond Nunnery, and by his brother, Curtis Ronald Barnhill.

Those who knew Randy will remember a man who was easy to talk to, quick with a laugh, and happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and the outdoors he loved so much. His life was marked by kindness, service, and a genuine love for people, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
