Patty Sue Baxley, 71, of Tar Heel, passed away peacefully at her home on August 23, 2026. Born on March 22, 1955, in Robeson County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Worth Baxley and Nora Turner Baxley.
Throughout her life, Patty was known for her loving spirit and deep devotion to her family. She is survived by her two daughters: Susan Harrison (Chris) of Whiteville and Ashley Bryant (Jason) of Tar Heel, who will forever remember her steadfast presence and nurturing heart. Patty found profound joy in being a grandmother, and her grandchildren—Nolan Bryant (Kaley), Josh Harrison, Luke Bryant, Easton Bryant, and MaKenzie Harrison (Grayson Waterfield)—were truly the light of her life. Her family always knew that nothing meant more to her than spending time with her beloved grandchildren, whose smiles and laughter brought endless happiness to her days.
Patty’s vibrant family circle also includes her brothers: Douglas Baxley (Virgie) of Lumberton and Eddie Baxley (Sarah) of Pembroke; sisters: Elnora Hollingsworth (Bob) of Red Springs and Marie Cox (Kenny) of Lumberton, all of whom shared in the blessings of her companionship and love. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: RC Baxley and Linn Baxley.
The family will receive friends from 2-3pm on Tuesday, August 25th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will be held at 3:30pm in the Davis Family Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
Those who knew Patty will remember her for the kindness she unfailingly extended, as well as her unwavering commitment to her family. Her gentle presence, supportive words, laughter, and feisty nature will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
The family extends a special thank you to Liberty Hospice and staff for their unwavering support and exceptional care, with heartfelt gratitude to Camryn, Adreanna and Jessica for their compassion during Patty's journey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Hospice.
