William Michael “Mike” Sasser, 71, of Elizabethtown, NC, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at Bladen County Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Calvin Sasser and Betty Tedder Sasser.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Anne Sasser of the home; his three sons, affectionately known as “the Sasser Boys,” Stanley (Julie) Sasser of Elizabethtown, Chris (Natalie) Sasser of Winnabow, and Wesley (Ashley) Sasser of Elizabethtown; and his seven grandchildren, Britt, Coley, Mollie, Cooper, Finley, Carter, and Mary Grace. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Clark of White Lake, his nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.

A lifelong resident of Elizabethtown, Michael—known as “Mike” to his friends and “Pop” to his grandchildren—was a proud member of the first graduating class of East Bladen High School in 1972. Following graduation, he began his lifelong career at his family’s business, Kinlaw Furniture, where he faithfully worked until his passing. Mike was widely known as the store’s primary service technician and was admired for his ability to fix just about anything.

Mike had a deep love for his family and community. He dedicated many years to coaching Dixie Youth Baseball, where he also served as league president and District 9 Director. Much of his and Anne’s free time was spent at the ballfield supporting their family and community, or enjoying time together on cruise ships.

He was a member of Wesley’s Chapel Church.

A burial service will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 10:00 am at Mt. Horeb Church, located at the intersection of Lisbon Road and Highway 87 in Carvers Creek, NC. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., and a visitation at Wesley’s Chapel Church, 2409 Peanut Road, Elizabethtown, NC.

Family and friends are invited to attend any or all of the services as they are able.

Mike will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and the love he had for his family, friends, and community.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wesley’s Chapel Church or The Elizabethtown Christian Academy
