Aaron “Daine” Smith of Elizabethtown, NC passed away on Tuesday, July 8th 2025. Daine was a devoted and loving husband, a wonderful father, a friend to many, a successful business owner, and a valued member of his family and his community. Daine was born in Lumberton, NC on January 14th, 1983 to Alan Brendell Smith and Patricia Ann Coley Smith. He is preceded in death by his mother Patricia, and his grandparents: Donald Coley, Mary Coley, and Eunice Smith.
Daine has two children, whom he adored and admired: Aaron James “AJ” Smith (Cara Beth Smith) of Bladenboro, and Paul Alan Smith of Elizabethtown. He was thrilled about the upcoming birth of his first grandchild, Dani Claire Smith — daughter of his eldest son, AJ and his wife, Cara Beth. He was the beloved brother of Brendell Smith (Amber Smith) of Wilmington and Mary Nicole Smith (Eli George) of Leland. He was the grandson of Herman Smith (Flossie) of Clarkton.
A graduate of East Bladen High School, he furthered his education in the trade industry, becoming a licensed HVAC mastermind, working for Campbell Oil Company for many years before opening his own HVAC business. His exceptional skills in the industry led to great success in his professional life, and he used those skills to help and serve those in his personal life as well. As the owner of Smith & Sons Heating and Cooling, formerly known as Cape Fear Heating and Cooling, Daine served his community through his labor. He was known by many for his unwavering generosity and love for helping others.
Daine was a member of Dublin First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of various community organizations including Southeastern Carolina Crossroads, Bladen Economic Development, and more. He was a licensed pilot who enjoyed flying in his spare time. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, maintaining his beautiful yard, and spending time with his family, above all.
A kind and gentle soul, a selfless giver, a gentleman in every way, and a true man of God - that is how he would be described by all who knew him. He will always be remembered for his quiet, kind demeanor, his generous spirit, and his outspoken love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Daine never missed an opportunity to tell you, “God is good.”
The loss of this wonderful man is a tragedy beyond belief on Earth, but our loss is certainly Heaven’s gain. May he always be remembered for who he was, and may his legacy reign on Earth through his boys, AJ and Paul.
"We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. II Corinthians 5:8
