Alfred Edwards

Alfred Roland Edwards, 83, of Elizabethtown passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville. He was born in Bladen County on June 3, 1928. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie McPhatter Edwards in 2001.



Mr. Edwards was a Veteran of the US Army.



He is survived by his wife, Margie D. Edwards of the home; one son, Buddy Edwards of Bladenboro; two step-sons, Kenny Barnes and wife Donna of Riegelwood and Calvin Barnes and wife Demetrious of Wilmington; one daughter, Cindy Macon and husband Milton of Riegelwood and one step-daughter Cindy Sykes and husband Chris of Hickory; one sister, Peggy Edwards; one granddaughter, Melissa Macon; seven step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.



The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.



Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Strole officiating. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery.
