Bladenboro, North Carolina

Alfreida Kemp Adams - On August 13, 2026 at UNC Southeastern Freida , daughter sister aunt friend prayer warrior Sunday School teacher youth/ children ministry leader stepped into heaven. She was born in Bladen county, North Carolina on August 26 1945 to Kirby and Mildred Perry Kemp. After tragic car accident when Freida was 16, she and her sister Orrie were adopted by family friends Bradford and Mildred Barber. She gained 3 sisters and a brother.

She loved Jesus without question and was a bold witness everywhere she went. She loved her family, her church family and friends , the beach and West Bladen basketball! She tried to go to as many games as possible when the Knights were playing and followed them during tournament play. If she couldn’t drive she would find a ride. Freida said she knew since that accident she was meant to serve others and she did. She always said a smile makes a difference so just smile. She retired from Bladen County DSS children’s services and then was a private duty CNA for many years.

She was a faithful member of Galeed Baptist Church where she faithfully served as a children’s Sunday School teacher and the youth where she went on a number of mission trips with them and out worked almost anyone there. She loved them all and was their prayer warrior. They all knew if Freida had prayed for you it was going to be alright. She was a faithful member of the choir and she worked tirelessly on the church kitchen committee for whatever occasion there was.

Alfreida will be remembered and cherished by her sister Orrie Gayand her husband Bill of Wilson, NC, her niece, Ashlie Pope and her husband Will and their children Dallas, Kemp and Ruby, her nephew, Chad, and her adopted siblings, Denette, Darlene, Audrey, Alice, George and their children. She will also be missed by a special friend Billy Ward and life long friend Charles Weathers.

The family would like to thank Galeed Baptist for its prayers and love for Alfreida. Thank you to UNC Southeast and Harborview Nursing Facility for their care.
