Andrew Allen

Andrew J. Allen was born May 23, 1933 in Council, N.C. He departed this life June 2, 2025 at Andrus-On-Hudson in Hasting-On-Hudson, New York.

Andrew was a member of Greater Harvest Baptist Church of Newark, New Jersey for 61 years. There he served as a Deacon and Choir member until he became ill. Andrew relocated to White Plains, New York and became a member of Union Baptist Church. Prior to making Greater Harvest Baptist Church his home, he was an active member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Council, North Carolina. Andrew was also a Mason. Andrew was educated in the Bladen County School System. Andrew spent many years working in the steel mill in Clifton, New Jersey followed by becoming a local community store owner ( Meat Market)

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories his loving sister, Carolyn Harvey-Sumpter; two daughters: Denise A. Richie, Glenda A. Jennings; a son, Andrew Allen Jr.; four grandsons: Damien Allen, Gregory Allen, Christopher Jennings, and Malcom Ritchie. A special niece & nephew, Tabatha Walker Morrison (Andre) and Robert Sumpter Jr. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as a myriad friend who he considered family.

Andrew was preceded in death by his wife, Pearlene Jones-Allen; a daughter, Cora Pauletta Allen; a grandson, Marcus Ritchie and mother, Idell Allen-Harvey. Andrew was one of five children; three preceded him in death: Manley A. Harvey, Willis O. Harvey and Louetta Harvey-Jacobs.

Andrew was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Andrew's walk with the Lord influenced everything he did. He was a loving and caring father and grandfather.

A funeral service will held on June, 14, 2025 at 1:00pm at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church 851 S. Braddy Plantation Rd, Council, NC 28434. Burial will follow in the Carvers Creek Cemetery.
