Andrew LaPorta

Andrew LaPorta, 89, of Bladenboro, passed away peacefully at his home on August 22, 2026. Born on June 3, 1937, in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, Andrew was the beloved son of the late Charles LaPorta and Constance Azzerrella LaPorta. He was also preceded in death by his dear sister, Leoda. 

Andrew's life was marked by devotion to his family, hard work, and unwavering sense of duty. In April 1956, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Marines. With determination and honor, he fulfilled his duties, rising to the rank of Corporal before being released from active duty in March 1963. The values and discipline he embodied as a Marine served as a guiding force throughout his life.

Andrew found great joy in the simple pleasures and responsibilities of life, particularly in tending to his cherished cows. His deep affection for these animals spoke volumes about his gentle spirit and appreciation for the land and creatures around him.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy LaPorta; one son; two daughters; his brothers: Charles LaPorta, Jr. aka "Slugger" and Leonard LaPorta; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, resilience, and commitment. Andrew’s loyalty and strength were constants that his family and loved ones could always rely upon.

Andrew’s family and all who knew him will remember a quietly steadfast man whose pride in his family, his service, and his work was ever-present. His memory will be cherished and honored by those he leaves behind.
