Barbara Lane Carter Johnson, born on August 26, 1943, in Hampstead, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on February 21, 2025. She lived a life full of laughter and love, always cherishing the time spent with her family. Barbara was known for her kind and welcoming nature, making everyone around her feel at ease. Her great sense of humor brought joy to many, and she will be remembered fondly for her warm affection, her hugs, camping, traveling to the beach and mountains and all those shopping adventures.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Crystal Renee' Storms and husband Brian of Elizabethtown; her sisters: Jean Carter Moore of Elizabethtown and Nancy Sue Carter of Hope Mills; her granddaughter, Brittany Renee' Simmons, lovingly known as "Pumpkin"; her great-grandchildren, Hunter Blake Simmons and girlfriend, Aubrie Wilt and Hayleigh Brooke Simmons; her special family friend, Nessie Thompson; and her beloved fur baby, Bella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Johnson; her parents, David Lee Carter and Mamie White Carter; her son, William D. Johnson, Jr.; her brothers: Lowell Thomas "Tommy" Carter, Clayton Lee Carter, Donald Ray "Bo" Carter; sister-in-law, Betty Johnson; and her grandson, Jeremy Michael Cain, lovingly known as “Dumplin”.

Barbara's legacy of love, kindness, and humor will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her family and friends will cherish the memories created together, holding them close as they navigate their lives without her cherished presence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Methodist Church PO Box 759 Elizabethtown, NC 28337 for playground improvements or to Liberty Hospice.
