Bettie Dowless

Bettie Melvin Dowless, age 73, of Bladenboro, died Saturday, January 23, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Carrie Melvin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Melvin and a sister, Doris M. Shaw.



She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cletus Dowless; two sons, Ronnie Dowless and wife Peggy of Bladenboro, Dale Dowless and wife Sheila of Tar Heel; a daughter, Gwenda Smith and husband Ernest of Bladenboro; a sister, Mildred M. Dalien of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.



The family will receive friends Monday, January 25, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Dave Pyatte and Rev. Jerry Beck on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Center Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery.
