Betty Carol Hester

Betty Carol Coleman Hester, 84, of Bladenboro, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 9, 2025. Betty was born on January 5, 1941, in Columbus County, to the late Brock Coleman and Mabel Brock Coleman. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Vollie Coleman, Sr., and her sister, Brockie Robbins.

Betty leaves behind her beloved husband, Ronald Hester, of the home; her son, Alan Hester and his wife Donna of Lumberton; her daughters: Sue McKellar of Cornelius, Ronda Dezso and her husband Allen of Wallace; and her sisters: Opal Suggs of Thomasville, Peggy Fillinger of Alabama, Sandra Fayne of Thomasville, and Karen Alexander of Thomasville. Betty was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren: Luke McKellar (Stefanie), Bradley McKellar (C.J.), Ethan McKellar, Curtis Dezso, Will Dezso, James Dezso, Victoria Edwards (Brandon), and Derek Hester (Mary Grace). She was also cherished by her great-grandchildren: Jase, Jenna, Aidan, Riley, and Chloe.

Betty was a devoted pastor's wife, a dedicated caregiver, and a very simple lady who poured her heart and soul into her family and community. She ran a daycare out of her home, nurturing and caring for many children throughout her life, always welcoming them with open arms and a kind heart. Among her many talents, she found joy in baking cakes and often shared her warmth through music, singing in the choir at her church.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 11th from 2:00pm to 2:45pm at Abbottsburg Baptist Church located at 13825 Twisted Hickory Rd, Bladenboro, NC 28320. A funeral service will take place at the same location at 3:00pm with Reverend Ronald Hester officiating service. Burial will follow services at Bladen Memorial Gardens in Elizabethtown.

Betty will be cherished and remembered for her simple yet profound impact on her family and community. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
