Bonnie Grey Thompson, born on January 14, 1945, in Bladen County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She lived a life rich in service, love, and devotion, leaving a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to know her.  Bonnie's professional journey as a Registered Nurse was characterized by her unwavering commitment to patient care. She dedicated many years of her life to her calling, working primarily at Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown and later retiring from Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Colleagues and patients alike knew her as the one nurse whom everyone could turn to for help and advice, embodying compassion and knowledge.

Her training at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville laid a strong foundation for a career dedicated to serving countless patients. Beyond her nursing career, Bonnie was known for her artistic talents. She was crafty, creating beautiful pieces in flowers and stained glass, making the prettiest wreaths, crocheting numerous baby blankets, dishcloths, and other cherished items that brought joy and warmth to family and friends.

Bonnie's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her daily prayers, sometimes extending for hours, were a testament to her dedication to her family and her relationship with God. Bonnie believed that the Lord kept her on Earth to pray for her loved ones and ensure their safety. Every Sunday, she set aside time to focus solely on her faith, attending church or tuning into her favorite service. Her profound love for Jesus was evident, as she administered her own communion, illustrating her deep connection to her Savior. Bonnie's worship and praise for the Lord were beautiful to witness, reflecting the spirit of a woman wholly devoted to her faith.

In her leisure time, Bonnie found joy in watching classic television shows and films, particularly enjoying the adventures of Zorro, the courtroom drama of Perry Mason, and the fun tales of The Lone Ranger. She also delighted in Disney and animated movies, including the antics of Spongebob, showing her youthful spirit and appreciation for the joys of entertainment.

Bonnie leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward. She is survived by her son, James Charles Thompson and his partner Lisa; her daughter, Leslie Morris and her husband Kirk; her daughter, Diane Lozier and her husband Marc; as well as her grandchildren—Alexa, James, Christa, Cameron, Nicholas, and Skylar—along with her great-granddaughter, Olivia. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Edge and her husband Wayne; her niece, Donna Russ and her husband Lynn and great-nieces: Tanner and Bella.

Bonnie was predeceased by her mother, Clara Davis Thompson; father, Jack Thompson; daughter, Jessica Spangler; brother, Jack Arnold Thompson and nephew, David Yarborough. Bonnie's life was one of service, creativity, and faith, and she will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Elizabethtown, NC with the Reverend Elvin Meares officiating. This gathering will honor Bonnie's life and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
