Job 1:21b The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Carol Fay (Strege) Gerber, 90, of Bladenboro, formerly of Carrollton, Texas, passed away and met her loving husband Les, just inside the Eastern Gate, on Friday, April 18, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Arnold Gerber, parents Gustave William Strege and Amelia Ann (Beutler) Strege, and thirteen siblings. Carol leaves behind two sons, David Gerber (Starla), of Wichita, KS; Douglas Gerber (Jody) of McKinney, TX; one daughter, Leslie Miller (Rev. Bruce) of Bladenboro, NC; one sister, Betty Hornbacher of Anaconda, MT; and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol grew up in Drake, ND, on what had been her grandfather’s homestead. She met and married Les, her husband of 65 ½ years, and they raised their children on this same farm. Carol loved her Savior, her husband, and her family dearly, and spent her life doing for others and serving in many ways. Carol was one who prayed and was known that she prayed – her daily list was lengthy and she took these dear ones to the Lord every day on their behalf. Carol has left an eternal legacy of dedication, love and grace that her family will cherish forever.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church cemetery with Reverend David Foster officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gideons International.
