Carolyn Johnson Bryan, 85, of Elizabethtown went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2025, while at Bladen East Health and Rehabilitation Center in Elizabethtown. She was born the daughter of the late James Franklin Johnson Sr. and Carrie Louise Dowless Johnson on January 11, 1940. She was wife of the late Alden Bryan and sister to the late James Johnson Jr.
Carolyn leaves behind one son, Murray James Bryan of Elizabethtown, two daughters, Angela Smith and Carol Ann Sadler (Donald), both of Elizabethtown, five grandchildren, Rose Ann Smith, Courtney Smith, H.L. Smith III (Sonya), Tristen Sadler, and Grace Sadler and three great grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Alex Smith, and Bella Smith.
Carolyn was a devoted Christian lady who loved the Lord, her family and her church. She was an active member of the Singletary Church of Dublin until her health declined. She could sit and talk about the Lord for hours at a time and loved to share the gospel with as many that would listen. She believed in a clean heart and a spotless house and took great joy in not only keeping her home tidy but tending to her beautiful flowers. Since her favorite color was green, it is fitting to say she had a “green thumb”. Her devotion, compassion and joy that she shared with others is the legacy that will hold the hearts of those that love her until they all meet again someday.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Singletary Church in Dublin on Sunday, March 16th at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Al Marshburn officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
