Carolyn Marie Hill

March 20, 1954 — January 21, 2025

Elizabethtown

Carolyn Thompson Hill, known to many as "Granny", peacefully succumbed to illness January 21st, 2025. She is preceded in death by Les Hill Sr. (Papa), her husband of nearly 51 years.

She was born to the late Elsie May Stevens and James Worth Thompson, Sr. in Robeson County on March 20, 1954.

She is survived by three sisters: Linda Transou, Faye Aiken and Barbara Driggers.

Granny also leaves behind three children, Les Hill (wife Chelley), Ben Hill (wife Angela), and Lynne Hill Franzeo (Husband Tony), seven Grandchildren: Zakary, Ariana (husband Alex), Tyler, Alyssa, Abby, Kena, and Maddie and one great grandchild Addi.

Granny was a school teacher for 40 years. She began her career teaching at the Bladen Development Center. This lead her to Elizabethtown Primary third grade before transitioning into high school special education. Her students loved her because she genuinely loved her students. Granny was a tough peacemaker that could diffuse most situations using her wit and charm. She earned respect by being the same person every day and if a student was in need, Granny was there to fill the void. It was easy to see she cared deeply for her students.

Granny was a sweet, kind and generous soul. She was smart, witty and the heartbeat of our family. Full of energy and always on the go, she never missed an opportunity to make someone's day brighter. Granny believed the simplest of gestures often exemplifies the most love. If you had the pleasure of spending time with Granny, then you felt her love. Her sense of humor taught us how to laugh while being unafraid to laugh at ourselves.

Granny will be missed immensely.

The family will hold a Private Celebration of Remembrance at a later date.
