David Lennon Butler, Jr.78 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David L. Butler Sr. and Annie Miller Butler. Mr. Butler was known for his work in the Mission Field, both local and in the state. He served with Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry, Appalachian Service Project and was President of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Men. Mr. Butler lived serving his community with various Mission projects. He was a graduate of Whiteville High School and served in the US Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carol Butler of the home; four sons; Dean Butler of Tarheel; Bryon Robinson and wife Brandi of Leland; Nickey Smith and wife Kristy of Rocky Point; and Mickey Smith and wife Barbara of Wilmington; three daughters; Donna Davis and husband Eddie of Hampstead; Kim Pridgen and husband Ronnie of Riegelwood; Vera Weber and husband Helmut of Germany; sister; Julie Capps of Smithfield; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; special friends, John and Gail Dove and Jeff and Pam Huff.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, September, 16, 2016 at 6:00pm at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends after the service in the mulit purpose building.
