David Ivey

David Skidmore Ivey, 77, of Elizabethtown, NC departed this life on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Elizabethtown Healthcare after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Darius and Minnie Bordeaux Ivey; an infant sister; a brother, Alfred Ivey; a brother-in-law, David Smith; and a great niece, Araya. David is survived by: his brother, Jerry Ivey (Sue) of Carthage, NC; his sisters, Nancy Smith of Climax, NC; Bonnie Ivey of Elizabethtown, NC; Sally Milczakowski (Tom) of Elizabethtown, NC; and sister-in-law, Judy Ivey of Madison, NC, along with nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Mataghedi (Eazadyar) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Freddie Smith of Climax, NC; Sharon (Reice) of Siler City, NC; Crystal (David) of Elizabethtown, NC; and Amber and Hayley Milczakowski of Elizabethtown, NC. Several great nieces and nephews, along with numerous cousins also survive him.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 2 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Dublin, NC officiated by Dr. Mack Roberts, Rev. Thomas McCuddy, and Rev. Kincy Barrow. Visitation will be held from 1 to 1:45 pm at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the Grimes-Tatum cemetery in Tar Heel, NC.
The family will receive friends at other times in the home of Bonnie Ivey at 3235 Owen Hill Rd Elizabethtown, NC.
The family expresses great appreciation to everyone at Elizabethtown Healthcare for the exceptional care of David during the past seven years. A special thank you is extended to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice team for their compassionate care during his time of illness.
