Fred Lant Pait, age 91 was born November 5, 1920 in Bladenboro to the late Will Lant Pait and Sally Hester Pait. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Vara Bryan and Annie Mae Singletary; a brother, Joe Pait; two great grandsons, Donnie Stone and Mitchell Means; and a granddaughter, Faye Conner.
Mr. Pait was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a farmer and timber buyer. He served as a deacon of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church for many years. As a lifetime member of the church, he served as a trustee and Sunday School teacher and was loved dearly by his church family. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees for Mount Olive College for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Stella Dove Pait; four children, Pauline Taylor and husband Mitchell of Lumberton, Clifton Pait and wife Jane, David Pait and wife Dorothy, and Harold Pait and wife Nancy, all of Bladenboro; two sisters, Lonnie Mae Batten of Hallsboro and Louise Butler and husband William of Bladenboro; one brother, W.L. Pait and wife Joyce of Southern Pines; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 5, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Henry Ward. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Oak Grove Church Road, Bladenboro, NC 28320.
