Gary Clarence Reed, a devoted father, grandfather and brother left this world on September 24, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Born on February 4, 1953, in Bladen County, North Carolina to the late Eva Sophia and Charlie Reed Jr.  Gary was a bright light to all who knew him and lived a life rich with passion.

Gary devoted most of his working life to the role of maintenance technician at the Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville. His commitment to his work was apparent, as he approached each task with meticulous care and an unwavering work ethic. Those who had the pleasure of working alongside him admired not just his skills, but also his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Education was also important to Gary, who proudly graduated from Tar Heel High School. His thirst for knowledge and self-improvement traveled hand in hand with another of his great joys, being outdoors. Gary found happiness in soaking up the sunshine, embracing the warmth of nature while keeping active. Physical fitness was a cornerstone of his life, and he took immense pleasure in strength training—a testament to his commitment to his health and well-being.

Gary’s family remembers him not only for his vitality and enthusiasm but also for his deep love and unwavering support. He is survived by his son, Jeremy Reed and his wife Jessica, as well as his daughter, Jessica Jameson and her husband C.W. The joy of his life was further compounded by his grandchildren; Reed and Charlee his granddaughters and Nathanael and James, his grandsons, who brought immense pride and happiness to his days. Additionally, Gary is survived by his siblings, Michael Reed, Carol Lewis, and Janice Dunham.

A graveside service to honor Gary's life will be held at Suggs Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on September 27, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM. All who knew Gary are welcome to gather and celebrate the life he lived, the memories he created, and the love he shared.

Gary Clarence Reed will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends. May his legacy of love, dedication, and the joy of life remain a source of inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
