Gertrude Pait Jackson, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born and raised in Bladen County one of seven children to the late Chalmers Pait and Evelyn Spivey Pait.
Gertrude was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She simply adored her grandchildren. Time spent with Granny included sleepovers with lots of laughs, candy and of course, a love of scary movies that has continued into adulthood. Gertrude had a great love for the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, Country Western movies, chocolate candy, and the beach. Fourth of July was never complete unless you went to the beach. She loved to spend time with her siblings and there was always a story to tell and laughs without measure when they were together. She had a caring heart and a love for sentimental words. Her favorite gifts were cards where she enjoyed reading the heartfelt words written by her family and friends. Gertrude’s endless love for her family, her sense of humor and her ability to make anyone smile will eternally be treasured and missed by all.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mitchell Jackson, her parents, infant brother Spencer Pait, and siblings, Robert Pait, Johnny Earl Pait, Mamie Pait and Addie Pait. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Mitchell Dwayne Jackson (Emily) of Bladenboro, Chalmers Ray Jackson (Karen) of Bladenboro, and Robert Earl Jackson (Wanda) of Whiteville, brother Pete Pait of Bladenboro, sister Patsy Freeman of Bladenboro, six grandchildren Ethan Johnson, Sydney Jackson, Lexy Jackson, Collin Ray Jackson, Linteno Savedge, and Roderick Grainger, and six great grandchildren Hensley Jackson, Aubrey Jackson, Braeley Jackson, Sadey Jackson, Riley Tedder and Raniyah Grainger.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2-3 pm at the Bladenboro Chapel of Bladen Gaskins at 800 N. Main St. in Bladenboro immediately followed by a funeral service at 3 pm with the Reverend Victor Singletary and Reverend Dale Hester officiating.
