Gideon Harvey Wilson, 84, of Hallsboro passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Born on August 24, 1940, in Bladen County, Gideon was a dedicated market manager for A & P and Food Lion grocery, where he took great pride in his work and made lasting contributions that impacted many lives.

Gideon is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janice Griffin Wilson; his son, Joel Wayne Wilson and wife Rhonna; his daughter, Stephanie Joan Wilson. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Daulton Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Sarena Little (Zach), Justin Garrell (Savannah), Jonathan Wilson, and Sara Elizabeth Underwood (Kyle). His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Harvey Lee Little, Reba June Little, and Kennedy Grace Garrell. Furthermore, he is remembered fondly by his sisters: Emma (W.E.), Ramona (Sonny), and Portia (Tommy), along with a host of extended family who all deeply valued his presence in their lives.

Gideon was predeceased by his parents, Edwin Glenn Wilson and Lessie Carter Wilson, as well as his son, David Harold Wilson. His family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the Gentiva Hospice caregivers, Carlene and Kayla, during his final days.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, May 6th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 10:00 am at Lisbon Cemetery.

Gideon dedicated over six decades of his life to the grocery industry, earning a reputation for hard work, reliability, and commitment to his community. He began his career at A&P, where he worked faithfully for 40 years, forming lasting relationships with coworkers and customers alike. After retiring from A&P, his passion for service led him to continue working at Food Lion for another 20 years. His strong work ethic and friendly nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Gideon's warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be dearly missed. His life was one of service and devotion, leaving behind enduring memories and a profound impact on those who had the privilege to know him.
