Henry James "Jimmy" Brice Jr., 89, of Elizabethtown went to his eternal home on Thursday, December 26, 2024 while at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born on October 30, 1935 in Sampson County to the late Henry James Brice Sr. and Maude Melvin Brice. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Lisa Ann Brice and one sister, Janice Brice Williams.
Left to cherish his memory are his dear wife, Phyllis R. Brice of the home, son Jamie Brice (Joy) of Elizabethtown, daughter, Melody Lane Brice of Elizabethtown, sister Mary Drew McPhail (Jim) of Tarboro, two grandchildren Rylee Brice and Jenna Brice. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
For 61 years, Jimmy was the owner/operator of Cape Fear Chemicals/Tiger Products in Elizabethtown. He worked as a salesman for areas all over North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia. He was proudly known as "Tiger Man."
Jimmy was an avid runner and was known to run 5-6 miles every day up until a few years ago, when it became a powerwalk instead. He enjoyed exercising and "keeping the body moving." He participated and placed in many races and triathlons over the years.
He was also proud of his 1957 Ford Fairlane convertible, which he bought in 1957 after returning from the Korean War where he served in the US Army. Jimmy was a US veteran and shared many unique stories of his time overseas.
Above all, Jimmy was a faithful Christian who loved his family and the Lord. He was a devoted member of Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church, where he very rarely missed a Sunday service. He was a devoted father and husband who loved spending time with his family. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 2-3 pm in the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary with Dr. Bob Bardin officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
