Jacqueline “Jackie” Pope Ludlum, age 90, of Bladenboro passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 23, 2025. She was born on May 13, 1934 in Columbus County, NC the daughter of the late James O. Pope Sr. and Nina Davis Pope. She graduated from Whiteville High School in 1951.
She worked in the retail grocery business for many years managing several large stores in the Tidewater area of Virginia for many years. After returning to North Carolina in the early 1990’s she was employed by Sampson-Bladen Oil Co. for several years prior to retiring in 2001. Jackie thoroughly loved people and was always looking to assist anyone with a need. Jackie deeply loved her family and was dedicated to them.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Hubert E. Guyton, her parents, and one brother James O. Pope Jr., one sister Maxie Pope Duncan. Left to honor her memory are her husband Bobby R. Ludlum, her sons Hubert G. Guyton (Patti) of Bladenboro and Terry D. Guyton of Virginia, Daughter Heather Bolt and friend Benjamin of Bladenboro, stepsons Jonathan R. Ludlum and wife Traci of Hahira, GA, Keith and Dallas Ludlum, both of Bladenboro, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown with the Reverend Jimmy Pope officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Disabled Veterans or Gentiva Hospice, 301 Liberty Street, Whiteville, NC 28472.
