James (Jimmy) Hayes Gooden, 77, Kansas City, Missouri (formerly of Elizabethtown) passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. He was a command sergeant major (retired) with the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late Alden and Ruth Gooden of Elizabethtown. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Gooden; three daughters, two sisters, Mary Gooden Ward of Clarkton and Frances Adams of Elizabethtown and several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church, Elizabethtown, NC.
Burial will be at Fort Riley Military Cemetery, Juction City, Kansas at a later date.
