Joe Mclaughlin

Joe Marcus McLaughlin, 58, of Clarkton passed away Monday, January 30, 2017.
He is preceded in death by his parents Angus and Ann McLaughlin and step-dad Sing Singletary. Survivors include several cousins, including Kathy Powell who unselfishly stepped into to help him after his mother's death.

Joe, at the age of 15, was in a car accident that left him a paraplegic. His mother cared for him until her untimely death. Most of his past time was spent using a ham radio, where he communicated with people in all the states and some foreign countries. He was very well known in the radio world. The family would like to extend a special thank you to several caregivers: Sharon Burney, who took wonderful care of him, Albert Moore, who came to the aid of Marcus and his mother Ann and many other care givers over the years.

A walk-thru viewing will be on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 10 am-12 noon at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home for anyone who would like to pay their respects followed by a graveside service at 2 pm in Clarkton Cemetery officiated by Rev. Charles Hester.
