Send a Sympathy Card
Saturday, August 30, 2025

On the morning of Tuesday, August 26, 2025, John Lynn Deavers, known to all as “Johnny” left this world to go to his eternal resting place. He joined those he loved that had gone on before him, his parents, James Lonnie Deavers and Gwendolyn Fields Deavers, sons Greg and Jamie Deavers, siblings Freddie Deavers, Charles Michael Deavers, Jimmy Deavers and Daphne Deavers Coleman, nephew Joshua Deavers and niece Rebecca Deavers.
Johnny was a collector of all sorts and known for his ability to fix anything. His trade of choice was electrical and worked several years overseas in many places including Saudia Arabia doing electrical and AC repairs. He enjoyed this type of work a great deal but what he loved the most was it enabled him to help people. Johnny had a heart of gold and always saw the very best in folks. When not working, he spent time with his family, cooking, planting his garden, and traveling. He was always early to rise and the first person in the car for any trip. His genuine compassion, his extensive knowledge of things and his generosity will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his dear memory are his beloved wife, Lilabeth Deavers of the home, daughter Julia Deavers of the home, son Patrick Deavers of Sylva, and siblings, Matthew “Windy” Deavers of Clayton, Gerald Thomas Deavers of Lumberton, and Gwenella Ellis (Tom) of Bladenboro, and his fur baby, Kip.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 am at New Center Baptist Church in Bladenboro with the Reverend Kevin Kinlaw officiating.
