Johnny Stephen Driggers, 73, of Castle Hayne, North Carolina, unexpectedly passed away on March 2, 2024, after an extended illness.
Johnny was born on January 12, 1951, to William Gordon Driggers and Louise Jordan Driggers of Elizabethtown, North Carolina. His maternal grandparents were John and Mary Jordan, lifelong residents of Elizabethtown. His paternal grandparents were Gordon Dana Driggers of Elizabethtown and Cora Belle Driggers of Lumberton, North Carolina.
Johnny lived part of his early childhood in Wilmington, North Carolina and North Plainfield, New Jersey. After the deaths of his father and younger brother while in New Jersey, he returned to Elizabethtown with his mother. He attended Elizabethtown schools, married the mother of his two children, Jacqueline “Jackie” White, and built his family and home in Bladen County.
Johnny later married Alice Faye Shipman and moved to Castle Hayne, North Carolina. He worked with Dupont Industries until his retirement. After his retirement he continued his hobby of restoring and repairing cars.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Alice Driggers of the home in Castle Hayne; his daughter, Stephanie Williams of Florence, South Carolina; his sister, Connie Huber of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; step daughter, Stephanie Bilodeau of Oakland, California; granddaughter, Jacqueline “JJ” Williams and great grandson, Atlas Williams of Morganton, North Carolina; grandson, Celab Williams of Seattle, Washington; and niece, Jordan Huber Martin, and great nieces Ava Reagan Markham and Reese Martin all of Bluffton, South Carolina.
Johnny was predeceased by his infant son, Kevin Mitchell; a younger brother, Mitchell Wayne; an infant brother, Kenneth William; his parents, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A gravesite service will be held in Elizabethtown at the Elizabethtown City Cemetery for family and friends on June 14, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
