Judy Lorraine Long Guyton, 68, of Bladen Springs, went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Larry and her daughter Samantha Gayle Hatfield (Chris) of Hampstead along with her three very loved granddaughters; Maysen, Marleigh, and Morgan.
Judy is the daughter of William Morris Long Sr., of Bolton and her brother Morris (Vicky) of Sanford. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ada Gayle Long and sister, Belinda Williams (Richard) of Chadbourn.
Judy was a graduate of Hallsboro High School and worked for many years in retail sales with various companies. She later went to work with Bladen County Department of Social Services and rose through the ranks to become their first full time fraud investigator. She retired in 2009 with 17 years of service. Judy also volunteered for many years with the Elizabethtown Rescue Squad as an EMT.
In addition to her full time job, Judy ran a successful home baking and catering business for many years. She was known for her skills of baking wedding cakes and many other types of cakes.
Judy loved the outdoors and honed her skills as a hunter and fisher at the side of her loving father, William (Goat) Long. She loved nothing better than to be in a dove field on opening day or sitting in a tree stand. She had a reputation as a crack shot from an early age.
She was a member of Carvers Creek Methodist Church and was active in Vacation Bible School and many other church projects. Judy never seemed to meet a stranger and was a friend to many. She will be greatly missed by family and friends who have the comfort of knowing she is now with her Lord and her family members who had gone on before her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, at 4:00pm at Carvers Creek Methodist Church. The family will greet friends at 3:00pm in the Fellowship Hall prior to the service and again following the service at the front of the sanctuary.
The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff of Wellcare Health and also Lower Cape Fear Life Care for the love and support they showed Judy through the many long months of her illness. We would especially like to recognize RN Stacy Thompson and our CNA Kaetlyn Priest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Judy’s name to Lower Cape Fear Life Care.
