Karen Ann Campbell

Karen Ann Campbell of Elizabethtown, NC, peacefully passed away at her home on April 8, 2025. She was born on January 31, 1956, to Bonnie Mae Campbell and Dallas McQueen Campbell, Sr. Karen is survived by her two brothers, Mac Campbell (and his wife Sylvia) and Stuart Campbell, as well as her five nephews: Brian, Chris, McQueen, Wesley, and Mac Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas McQueen Campbell Sr. and Bonnie Mae Campbell.

Karen had a deep love for life and was known for her caring and compassionate nature. She held a special place in her heart for young children, individuals facing challenges, and animals.

After graduating from Elon University, Karen moved to Raleigh, where she worked for the state of North Carolina for several years. She later returned to her hometown of Elizabethtown, NC, in Bladen County, where she managed a program that helped individuals with mental and physical challenges secure employment in various fields. This role was deeply fulfilling for Karen and brought her much joy.

Karen then moved to the Wilmington area where she managed a program that paired at-risk youth with canines, teaching the youth to train the dogs as service animals. When the grant for that program ended, she opened a gift shop at Monkey Junction, which she ran for several years before moving back to her hometown, Elizabethtown, NC.

She will be deeply missed by a loving circle of family and friends.

A private service will be held.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Liberty Homecare and Hospice for their compassionate care and support of Karen.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bladen Crisis, Bladen We Care, and Southeastern Carolina Crossroads.
