Kenneth Ray Edwards

Kenneth Ray Edwards, of Bladenboro, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, while at the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Angel House in Whiteville at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Edwards and Edna Faye Ransom Edwards, son Craig Edwards, and sisters, Lois Smith and Hazel Babson.

Kenneth was the devoted husband of 53 years to Bonnie L. Edwards of the home, proud father of Kevin Edwards of Supply and Heather Pusey and husband Rudy of Garland, loving brother to Horace Edwards of Bladenboro, JC Edwards of Whiteville, Faye Brown and husband L.T. of Bladenboro, Debbie Edwards and husband Delbert of Evergreen, and Murtice Ransom of Clarkton, brother-in-law of Murphy Smith, adoring grandfather to five grandchildren, Quinton Edwards and wife Marina, Kayla Pusey, Kolby Edwards, Alexis Edwards and husband Emory, and Alissa Pusey and husband Clayton, and one great grandson Jessie Resendiz-Batten. He was also an admired uncle and friend to a host of nieces, nephews and other special family members.

Kenneth was a truck driver by trade who had spent his life behind the wheel of anything from big rigs to gas trucks. He had traveled countless highways but the places he loved best were the roads that lead to home and to the mountains with his grandchildren. They all looked forward to that annual “Mountain trip with Papa” and he loved nothing more than spending time with his dear family and friends. He enjoyed having a good time whether he was sitting on the back porch watching Murphy and Steven plant the first crops of summer, riding the golf cart, fishing, cooking breakfast, or chatting with his siblings. Kenneth always had a joke to tell or a song to sing. His enchanted voice can still be heard in the memories of his beloved church family at New Center Baptist. He will dearly be missed here but his family and friends rest in knowing that those sweet notes are now being sung in that heavenly choir and he will be holding a place for each of them until they meet again.

To celebrate his life, the family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at New Center Baptist Church followed by a funeral service at 3 pm with Pastor Bryan Hickman officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Salem Pentecostal FWB Church Cemetery in Clarkton.
