Larry Wayne Blalock, 80, of White Lake, North Carolina, peacefully went to sleep sitting in the sun on his favorite backyard chair and woke in the presence of the Lord.
Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished “Paw-Paw,” faithful pastor, and a true servant of God whose life reflected the love and grace of Jesus Christ. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Blalock, who stood by his side in faith and love through the years. Together they built a family rooted in Christian values and unwavering devotion to the Lord.
He leaves behind five children who carry on his legacy of faith and family: daughter Kathy Foster and her husband Frank; son Gary Blalock and his wife Denise; son Ken Blalock and his wife Marisa; son David Blalock and his wife Ashley, and daughter Terri Wall and her husband Adam. Larry was a proud and loving grandfather—“Paw-Paw” to eleven grandchildren: Gregory, Darren, James, Jessica, Christopher, Hannah, Jeremiah, Damien, Dylan, Gabriella, and Noah—and four great-grandchildren: Sean, Addison, Nova, and Parker. His family meant everything to him, and his eyes would light up with joy whenever they came to visit, a simple but powerful reflection of the love he carried in his heart.
For 30 years, Larry faithfully served as pastor of Cornerstone Community Church, where he poured his heart into preaching the Word of God and guiding others in their walk with Christ. He was never one to shy away from sharing his love for the Lord—even with strangers—and found great joy in Bible studies and fellowship. His life was a testimony of what it truly means to be a child of God, and he lived each day striving to follow Jesus and lead others to Him.
In addition to his ministry, Larry worked as a construction plumber for over 40 years. He often said with a smile, “plumbing been bery bery good to me,” a humble reflection of his gratitude for the work that provided for his family and allowed him to serve others in practical ways.
Larry will be remembered as a man of deep faith, kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love. He was a teacher of God’s Word, a steady example to his family and friends, and a light to all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing that he is rejoicing in the presence of his Savior, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
His legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. And we know he is dancing on streets of gold. Heaven just got sweeter.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 1:30pm until 2:30 pm with a Celebration of his life will follow at 2:30 pm at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by a burial in the Clarkton Cemetery in Clarkton, NC.
On Tuesday, 14 April 2026, 6 P.M., there will be an additional Memorial Celebration of Life located at 5555 Portsmouth Blvd, VA, 23701.
