Larry James Russ

Larry James Russ, 71, of Dublin went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2025, while at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bascom and Sudie Russ, brother Hurley Ray Russ and wife Alice, sister Lois Guyton and husband Cary, brother-in-law Ricky Smith and his caregiver of 20 years, Selena McKoy.

 Larry is survived by two brothers Lewis Russ (Jean) of Cedar Creek, Walter Russ (Lucille) of Dublin, four sisters Muriel Priest (Larry) of Clarkton, Edna Lou Russ of Dublin, Mildred Priest (Ricky) of Elizabethtown and Alice Smith of Lumberton, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.

 Larry was a fun, loveable guy that adored his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, attending the annual Christmas parade to watch the Shriners and the tractors, going to the Dublin Peanut Festival, Lu Mil Vineyard Light Show, and Made in The Shade Car Show in Elizabethtown. Larry always enjoyed good food, especially pizza. He often visited the locals at Pizza Hut, Pier 41, and Burger King. He was known for his love of the outdoors where he spent time working in the garden, mowing the yard or riding the golf cart with Walter. Every year his family would celebrate Larry’s birthday with a big party so he could laugh and joke with everyone. He was a vital member of Dublin Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending services until his health declined. Larry was always such a joy to have around. His cheerful disposition and his ability to make you smile will dearly be missed.

The family would like to "Thank" LaRonda Gill for all your love and care that you gave Larry. 

 The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 11-12 pm at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by a funeral service at 12 pm with the Reverend Mike Burney officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Bladen Memorial Gardens. 

 At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Walter and Lucille Russ.
