Larry Lee Stevens

Larry Lee Stevens, formerly of Greensboro, NC passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Elizabethtown Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 88.

Larry was born May 14, 1937, in Marion, Indiana to the late Ora Sylvanus and Edith Amsden Stevens. He was preceded in death by his brother Garry Stevens.

Larry served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1974 where he retired at the rank of Technical Seargeant. During the 20 years of serving his country, he served two tours in Vietnam. In the mid 1980’s Larry went to work with Guilford Mills where he retired in 2000. He was also an active member of Guilford College United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC, where he served in several positions.

Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carole Burgess Stevens and son Neil Murphy and wife Sarah of Elizabethtown, grandchildren Patrick Murphy (Brittany) of Knightdale, Troy Murphy (Parker) of Kill Devil Hill, Ashley Ratcliffe (Michael) of Lumberton and Meredith Aukamp (Jason Weissinger) of Elizabethtown, great grandsons Finley and Asher Murphy of Knightdale, brother Jerry Stevens (Mary) of Jonesboro, Indiana, sister-in-law Judy Stevens of Riverside, California, nephews Christopher, Garry Jr. (Donna) and Jerry Stevens, along with other nieces and nephews.

A military graveside service will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC at 2pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

At other times the family will receive friends at Neil and Sarah's home, 3512 NC 242 S., Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
