Leonard Evander Williams, Jr., born on December 13, 1957, in Sampson County, North Carolina, passed away on March 17, 2025, at Bladen Hospital in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. Leonard was a cherished individual known for his unwavering passion for sports, particularly his beloved Carolina Tar Heels, whom he would passionately watch in any game and now, has the best seats for “March Madness”!
Leonard's life was significantly shaped by his family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Deborah "Debbie" Lockamy, his Uncle Dewey Williams and maternal Aunt Inez Munn Cothran. He also has a best friend, Don Melvin, who will always remember the laughter, support, and camaraderie they shared as they watched games and races together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Munn and Leonard Evander Williams, Sr., and his brother, John Daniel "Danny" Williams, as well as his brother-in-law, Dale Lockamy. Their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved Leonard.
Leonard Evander Williams, Jr. is remembered for his deep sense of loyalty and joy, qualities that endeared him to his family and friends alike. He installed carpet for a living and later became an expert in mosaic tile work. Some of his designs can be seen in several bar tops, walls and floors throughout many businesses in Wilmington, NC. His legacy will be carried forward by those who hold dear the moments shared and the warmth of his spirit.
A Celebration of Leonard's life will be held at the Tar Heel Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Puryear officiating, Saturday, March 29th at 11:00am.
