Linda Rummage Clark, born December 17, 1942, in Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on May 22, 2026, in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. She lived a life marked by devotion to her family and the many meaningful connections she fostered throughout her years.
Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Ward and Sue Wilson Rummage. She was united in marriage to James H. Clark, Jr., who preceded her in death. Their partnership was a foundation of love and support that shaped much of Linda’s life.
Linda spent most of her adult life in Cary, NC working for several years as a bank teller and later a collections specialist. She enjoyed traveling-especially spending time at the beach; had a love for horses and even showed horses for a time; and had a number of hobbies including reading and needlepoint which can be admired in almost every room in her house.
After her husband James passed away she moved to Elizabethtown to be closer to Walt and her girls. Family was important and she loved spending time with them all, but Linda’s greatest joy and pride were her granddaughters. She was a special Mema to her granddaughters, supporting them in all of their activities. She would probably say that she cherished being Mema over everything else. Linda loved Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church and always enjoyed any opportunity for a Bible study or gathering.
She is survived by her son, Walt McDuffie, Jr., and his wife, Willie Kay, whose lives she profoundly touched. Linda’s legacy extends warmly to her granddaughters: Grace Coates with her husband Alex, along with Lila McDuffie and Emma McDuffie. Her sisters: Delores Amundsen and her husband Paul, together with Nancy Curtis, remain cherished members of her close-knit family circle. Linda also leaves behind nephews: Ron Pittman and his wife Jennifer, John Pittman and his wife Sheri, as well as Roy Lynch and his wife Nicole, who will all carry forward her memory with respect and love.
All throughout, Linda received exceptional care and compassion. The family wishes to convey their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers Amelia Esteva, Teresa McKiver, and Gay Kennedy, alongside the dedicated staff and nurses of Liberty Hospice, whose unwavering commitment and kindness provided comfort and dignity in her final days.
Linda Clark’s life was one of quiet strength and affection. Those who knew her will remember her with fondness and great respect. Her spirit endures in the hearts of her family and friends who mourn her passing yet celebrate the richness of her life.
A Celebration of Linda's Life will be held on Saturday, June 6th at 11am at Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda's memory to Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church.
