Louise Autry White

Ms. Louise Autry White, affectionately known as “Granny”, of Bladenboro, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of September 30, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born in Bladen County on July 19, 1930, one of nine children to the late Moore and Ada Storms Autry. She was preceded in death by her husband J.C. White, one son Jeffrey White, grandson Kevin Driggers, five brothers, J.M. Autry, Dewey Autry, M.G. Autry, Jimmy Autry, and Darrel Autry, and two sisters Eloise Hodge and Geraldine Mills.

Granny was a strong, loving and independent lady. She spent several years working at the Sport Tees textile plant in Clarkton, NC. Upon retirement, and as long as her health allowed, you could find her in her yard mowing and tending her flowers. At other times she enjoyed reading, knitting and needle pointing or just quietly sitting on the porch. Her best times were spent cooking for her family and enjoying the annual Christmas gathering at her home. Those times always brought a smile to her face and joy to her soul. Her resilient spirit and tender heart will long live in the memory of her dear loved ones.

Granny leaves behind her beloved children Jackie White-Witt of White Lake, NC, John White of Clarkton, NC, Mike White (Marsha) of Elizabethtown, NC, Penny Walters (Timmy) of Bladenboro, NC and Stevie White of Elizabethtown, NC, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and one sister, Judy Burnette of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral is planned for Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 2 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Pastor Cory Hester and the Reverend Warren Hill officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Rising Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
