Maty Anderson, 90, of Bladenboro, was called home to be with the Lord on September 21,2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on September 24, 1934 to James and Maggie Willoughby. Maty lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She was a devoted wife and mother, known for her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
A faithful servant of God, Maty was an avid prayer warrior for many people. Her love for Christ was evident in how she lived – always with grace, humility, and a heart for others. She loved her family, fishing and shopping as well.
Maty is survived by her brother Frank (Nyoka) of Bladenboro, son Steve (Amanda) of Bladenboro, daughter Judy (Terry) of Bladenboro, six grandchildren Stephanie (Steve) of Bladenboro, Scott (Tiffany) of Faith, Jessica (Joey) of Bladenboro, Nick of Bladenboro, Owen (Tyler) of Elizabethtown, Kassi (Chris) of Bladenboro, 10 great-grandchildren Kaden, Makenna, Brody, Tyler, Carley, Ella, Emmie, Hudson, Alex, and Colton all who will cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of faith and love. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Maggie Willoughby, husband Cecil Anderson, brothers Albert Willoughby, Alfred Willoughby, Ira Willoughby, Willie Willoughby, and her sister Mamie Tedder.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 pm to 4:15 pm on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at New Light Church in Bladenboro with a celebration of Maty’s life following at 4:30 pm. Burial will follow the services in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Bladenboro . Family and friends are welcome to attend and share in remembering the life of someone who loved deeply and served faithfully.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Judy and Terry Ard, 715 Pine Ridge Circle, Bladenboro, NC 28320.
The family would like to thank her Hospice team and additional caregivers Carol Davis and Michelle Williams.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing that Maty is at peace in the presence of the Lord, hearing the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
