Mildred Bryant Ludlum, 97, of Bladenboro, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 10, 2025. Born on May 29, 1928, in Bladen County to the late Andrew Bryant and Nannie Ward Bryant, Mildred lived a life rich with love, family, and joyful memories.
Mildred will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, with a deep affection for spending time with her family. Her legacy lives on through her sons: David Earl Ludlum, Jr. and his wife Kay, James "Danny" Ludlum and his wife Paula, and Steve Ludlum, as well as her daughter, Mary Frances Adams. A proud grandmother, Mildred is survived by thirteen grandchildren: Dale, Keith, Melissa, Wendy, Tonya, Dan, Sabra, Savannah, Patrick, Phillip, Justin, Kaitlyn, and Ashleigh. Additionally, she leaves behind sixteen great-grandchildren: Natalie, Samantha, Jordan, Malyn, Sierra, Brandon, Cayden, Leah, J.R., Eli, Logan, Alaina, Jossie, Rylie, Brody, Teegan, and seven great-great-grandchildren, who all enriched her life with innumerable moments of joy. Mildred also shared a special bond with her beloved pet, Ringo, who was her partner in crime and a source of comfort and companionship.
Mildred's hobbies and interests reflected her warm spirit. She was an avid gardener, baker, and a lover of cooking for the Ladies Auxiliary. Her devotion to New Light Church was evident as she participated actively, enjoying gospel music and singing in the choir, further highlighting her deep faith which was an integral part of her life.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband, David Ludlum, their son, C.A. Ludlum, and her siblings: Byard Bryant, Billy Bryant, Manley Bryant, Claude Bryant, Elouise Bryant, and Gladys Hudson. The footprints of her life will continue to guide her family through generations, as they remember her grace, strength, and unwavering love.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, October 13th at New Light Church in Bladenboro. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, October 14th at New Light Church with Reverend Dale Hester officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Ludlum Cemetery in Bladenboro.
