Norma Lou Hester Abbott Smothers

Norma Lou Hester Abbott Smothers, 84, of Murrells Inlet, SC formerly of Dublin, NC passed away peacefully at her home on March 24, 2025. She was born on December 7, 1940 the daughter of the late Joseph Woodrow Hester and Mildred Butler Hester.

Norma was also preceded in death by her  husband, Alvah Lynn Smothers, siblings, Houston Hester and Linda Hester, and one granddaughter, Crystal Abbott Coffman.

Left to cherish her memory are sons, Thomas W. Smothers (Misty) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Allen W. Smothers (Shirley) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Joseph “Joe” Abbott (Elisa) of Tar Heel, two sisters, Myrtle Hester and Hilda Kinlaw, both of Dublin, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 12-12:30 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with a graveside service following at 1:00 pm in the Singletary Cemetery in Dublin with the Reverend Warren Hill officiating.
