Peggy Atkinson

Mrs. Peggy Jean Watson Atkinson, 80, of White Lake passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Mrs. Atkinson was a hair dresser in the home and also, worked at Veeder Root in her early years. Mrs. Atkinson was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the VFW, and a member of White Lake Baptist Church.

She was born on December 4, 1932 in Tabor City to the late Peter Emanuel and Lula Golden Watson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Austin Legrande Atkinson, a brother, Henry Peter Watson, and three sisters, Majorie Smith, Lillian Melvin and Corenia Wood.
She is survived by her son, Thomas L. Atkinson and wife Kimberly P. and her three grandchildren, Zarah, Madison and April. As well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 2:00 until 2:45 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm at the Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Hayes and Rev. Sharika McKoy officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer or Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
