Richard Vance Mabe Jr.

Richard Vance Mabe, Jr., 66, of Dublin passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026, while at the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Center in Whiteville. He was reunited with his beloved wife Donna Lynn Mabe, his sisters Wanda Mabe and Cynthia Galtin as well as his dear nephew Michael Hardee.

Richard was a loving son, brother, husband, father and friend. His family was the apple of his eye, and he always looked forward to doing things together. He especially looked forward to Christmas time. He was known for his elaborate decorations and his joy of giving. A natural outdoorsman, Richard found contentment in working in his garden, riding his Harley, or hunting with his son. His other passions were football and music. Whether cheering for his favorite Redskins or listening to music while working on his pickup, it was always evident he enjoyed the simple country life. Although Richard will be dearly missed by all here that knew and loved him, his family and friends will hold dear those precious memories until they are all reunited once more.

Left to carry his legacy are son, Jeremiah Mabe of the home, two sisters, Kathy Mabe of Dublin, Jane Huggins (Josh) of Elizabethtown, several nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 12:30-1:30 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with a graveside service to follow at 2 pm in the Tatum Grimes Cemetery in Tar Heel. The Reverend Cameron McGill will officiate the service.
