Richard Joseph Snyder age 64 of Cyril, Oklahoma was called home to be with Jesus and his momma on September 7, 2025. Born to Diana Lee Snyder in Burlingame, California. They lived in the Bay Area until 1974, when his family moved to Clarkton, N.C.
He graduated from East Bladen H.S. and worked various mechanic and mill jobs. Then he joined the army in 1991 where he met his wife Mae Lyn, they married in 1994 and raised their boys. They served in Germany, Virginia and Fort Sill, settling in Cyril, Oklahoma in 1994 before leaving the military in 1997. He also received an associate degree in business from the University of Science & Art in Chickasha. He worked for Freightliner American LaFrance until he and Clayton Mayo opened Myder Fire Support Services in 2008.
Richard loved to hunt, fish, and watch movies. The highlight of his life was his grandson Braxton, he enjoyed playing and spending time with him. He was looking forward to adding to his joy with his new grand twins born this year. He was the kind of man that loved to be there for his family and friends that were located from coast to coast.
He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Diana and Rusty Harris, “ma & pa” Clayton and Elizabeth Atkins and his grandmother Norma Snyder. He is survived by his “Dolly” Mae Lyn Snyder, his wife of 34 years: sons Bobby of Cyril, Timothy and wife Sarah of Cordell, Thomas and wife Heather of Cyril; grandkids Braxton, Timmy, and Lola; Sister Lisa Butler and husband Tim of Kinston, NC; Nephew Cameron and wife Kaitlyn Butler of Fuquay Varina, NC.
Friends are family you choose, and Richard chose and loved the Atkins family especially his “brother” Bruce, his wife Shelia, their children and the many members of the Atkins family. He loved so many and was loved by so many more. Till we met again, rest in peace “Dolly”, Dad, Paw Paw, Brother, Uncle, Friend.
Visitation and viewing will be held September 11, 2025 from 6-8pm at Flecther Funeral Home in Flecther, OK and a graveside service will be held September 12, 2025, at 10 am at Celestial Gardens Cyril, OK.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Cyril Volunteer Fire Department, 112 W Main Street Cyril, OK 73029 in his memory.
