Ricky Lee Davis

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ricky Lee Davis, age 65, who departed this life on February 26, 2025, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 23, 1960, in Bladen County, Ricky devoted 31 years of his life working as a machine mechanic in maintenance for Smithfield Foods.

Ricky's greatest joy was his family, which remained at the center of his world. He treasured every moment spent playing with his grandchildren, who brought immense happiness into his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Deborah Smith Davis, whose unwavering support and companionship were a testament to their enduring love. His memory will also live on through his daughters, Melony Slacks and her husband Tony, and Candice Davis.

Ricky was a cherished brother to Debbie Davis and her husband Alan Burgin, as well as a beloved uncle to many. He had a special place in his heart for his four grandchildren: Kelsey Ballance, Emily Lewis, Dean Johnson, and Lucille Davis, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Atleigh Locke and Weston Ballance. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends too numerous to mention, all of whom were touched by his kindness and love.

Ricky was known for his warm spirit and gentle nature. He could often be found enjoying the simple pleasures of life—whether fishing, working in the yard, or riding in the truck with gospel music playing. His rich voice, described by many as angelic, would fill the air with praises, reflecting his love for GOD. He passionately believed in spreading the word of GOD, sharing his faith and giving Bibles to all his family, friends, and strangers alike.

Ricky will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The impact he had on the lives of those around him was profound; to have known Ricky was to have experienced genuine kindness and love.

A visitation will be held in his honor on March 1, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 3131 M.L.K. Dr, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.

Ricky Lee Davis’s legacy of love and faith will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
