Robert Stanfield

Robert "Bob" Floyd Stanfield, 69, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Bertha Stanfield. Bob is survived by wife: Judy Sasser Stanfield; sons: Scott Stanfield and wife Devon of Fuquay Varina, Robert Stanfield and wife Brenda of Kernersville; daughter: Jennifer Puckett and husband Edward of Augusta, Georgia; brothers: Mike Stanfield and wife Libby of Huntsville, Alabama, Tim Cooper and wife Gari of Fayetteville; sisters: Janet Melvin and husband Don of Garland, Terri Robertson and husband Loren of Fayetteville; five grandchildren: Fifth Puckett, Sophie Puckett, Fields Puckett, Sofia Stanfield, and Hatley Drechsler.

Bob was our wonderfully kind, funny and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He grew up in Fayetteville and was known as "Pete" through high school. He played basketball at Seventy-First High School ('66) then served in the US Air Force in N. Korea. He graduated from ECU in 1974 then University of South Florida in 1977. He married his beautiful, faithful wife Judy Sasser Stanfield in 1975. Together they had three children: Jennifer, Scott, and Robert and lived in FL, TX, and AZ before moving back to NC in 1992. He retired from the Dept. of Insurance in Raleigh in 2009. Bob was an avid golfer, loved his family so much, was a practical joker, and generous to everyone who ever crossed his path. He passed peacefully from life to the arms of Jesus 4/22/17 surrounded by his family at home following a brave nine year battle with dementia.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 4pm at Lisbon Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Creech officiating. Friends and family are welcome for visitation at the Stanfields' home following the service.
