Roman Ernest Long

Roman Ernest Long, age 41, of Bladenboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on April 18, 2025. Born on January 9, 1984, Roman led a life marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and his profession as an electrician with Smithfield Foods.

He was known for his great sense of humor, which brought joy and laughter to those around him. Roman cherished the moments spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will be forever held dear by his loved ones. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for fishing and hunting, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and share experiences with family and friends.

Roman is survived by his devoted mother, Susan Mote Long of the home; his spouse, Jennifer Long of Elizabethtown; and his adoring son, Zechariah Roman Long of the home, and his mother-in-law Diane Cook. He also shared a special bond with his Aunt Ann who was affectionately known as "Mama Ann",  brother, Richard Robinson Long (Robin), special cousins/partners in crime: Trista Hester, Jennie Long Godwin and his loyal best friend, "Red," his cherished red heeler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Currie Robinson Long, Jr., his grandparents, and his father-in-law, Hugh Cook. Roman’s legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who loved him dearly. His spirit and laughter will be profoundly missed, and he will always be remembered as a dedicated family man, a skilled electrician, and a friend to many.

The family will receive friends from 11am-12:45pm on Tuesday, April 22nd at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with a funeral service beginning at 1pm. Reverend Kevin Kinlaw will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Longs Cemetery off of Hwy 242 in Bladenboro.
