Roy "Spencer" Evans, 60, of Clarendon passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012. Spencer was a veteran of the US Army. He was a Lock Master at the Lots on the Cape Fear River in Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by his parents,Walter Edward Evans, Sr. and Vesta Earline Hayman Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Nance Evans of the home; step-son, Chris Jordan of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Evans of Charlotte and Susan Evans of Forth Worth, TX, one step-daughter, Tonya Dixon of Garland; one brother, Walter "Porky" Evans, Jr. of Elizabeth City; one sister, Sharon Stahl of New Bern; five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 1:00 until 2:45 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Thomas Tedder officiating. Burial will follow at Nance Cemetery in Butters.
