Sammie Davis

Sammie Joseph Davis, 71, of Elizabethtown passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Pait Davis, his parents Fred and Carrie Davis, three brothers; Paul Davis, Jimmy and Oren Taylor, sister Sarah Davis and foster parents Miller and Lucille Taylor.Survivors include two sons; Darrin Davis and wife Barbara of Raeford and Brad Davis and wife Brandi of Raleigh; one step son Stacy Callihan and a step daughter Lisa Killewald; a brother Ron Taylor and wife Vicky of Elizabethtown; three sisters; Betty Davis of White Lake, Judy Jones and husband Mike of Elizabethtown; and Sally Gooden of Elizabethtown; one step grandson Christopher Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 25th at Dublin First Baptist Church in Dublin at 3 pm with Rev. Cameron McGill officiating. Burial will follow the service in the New Pait Cemetery in Bladenboro. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Mike and Judy Jones , 205 Jessup Avenue, Elizabethtown, NC.
Sammie had a big heart and quick wit. He never met a stranger and helped lots of people on his many journeys in this life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
